COVID-19 Outbreak

Throughout the outbreak the health and well-being of patients, clients, and health care team members has been our top priority.

We Are Open During The COVID-19 Outbreak

Perkiomen Animal Hospital thanks our entire staff for their continued dedication to our clients and their pets. Their efforts throughout this very difficult time have been incredible to witness and we are so very proud of each of them. They continue to exceed all expectations to bring you the very best in patient care.

As news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community continues to develop, we are monitoring the situation closely. At this time Perkiomen Animal Hospital is considered an essential business and able to provide a number of medical services. Restrictions have been placed on certain services deemed elective or which can wait until a later date.

At this time there is no known correlation between humans and pets from this disease. It is important to note that while the CDC and other health authorities have indicated that dogs, cats, and other domestic animals are not considered at risk for contracting COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of humans within our facilities— notably our clients and staff. For further information please visit AVMA and CDC.

All appointments are being seen as ‘curbside service’. Upon arriving to the hospital please call our main hospital number at 215-679-7019 and we will check you in by phone. Our veterinary technicians will come out to your vehicle and transport your pet into the hospital. The doctor will call you during the consult to review your pet’s condition and treatment plan as well as any recommended medications. You can make payment by credit card (please note that at this time we are asking for only credit card payment in order to limit further interaction with staff by using cash or checks). The technician will meet you at your vehicle with your pet, any medications, and all of your paperwork.

To help facilitate your pet’s visit we ask that you please request any needed medication refills when you schedule your appointment so that they are ready ahead of your appointment. Also, we ask that you email any paperwork that you have ahead of your pet’s appointment to Your cooperation with this will help to ensure that your pet is back to you as soon as possible in order to help further reduce any anxiety or stress.

When you arrive at PAH please pull into a numbered parking spot and call us at 215-679-7019. A staff member will get some information about your pet and discuss current concerns on the phone then come outside to retrieve your pet. Please make sure you mention all pertinent details to the employee when they come outside so we can streamline your pet’s appointment. If you would like to walk your dog upon arrival please remember to remain at least 6 feet away from other pet owners.

We understand that you may wish to reschedule your appointment when you can remain with your pet and we are happy to do so. There are certain situations where our doctor may be able to offer a telemedicine consultation with you. Telemedicine allow our doctors to consult with you about certain patient conditions and prescribe a course of treatment without having to see your pet. There is a charge for this service. Only the doctor can determine if this service is right for your pet. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours for a reply for this service, as our doctors are focused on patients needing more urgent care at this time.

If you need any medications we can usually fill them in house within just a couple of hours, which means you can start treatment sooner. We know during this crisis there are shipping delays throughout the country but our team has been working hard to make certain that medications are available for our patients when they need it.

What if YOU are sick. We ask that if you are ill or experiencing flu-like symptoms and have an upcoming appointment please have a family member or friend take your pet to the appointment instead.

For more information and health guidance regarding COVID-19, please visit the CDC or WHO websites. For more information on animal health health related to COVID-19 visit the AVMA website.

We will do everything we can to uphold the exceptional veterinary care our pet owners and patients deserve. Call us at 215-679-7019 if there is anything we can do to keep your family and pets healthy during this challenging time.
